This directory was compiled by the Shalem Mental Health Network to be used by pastors, teachers, doctors and anyone seeking information on Christian professional help available in Ontario. Its primary purpose is to supply leaders of the Christian community with an orderly list of Christian mental health services available in Ontario. As a secondary purpose it is our hope that this directory will make Christian agencies aware of each other and encourage meaningful dialogue and networking between mental health agencies and professionals.
The complexities of the twentieth century lifestyle have not left the Christian community unscathed. Today's prevalent problems are surfacing in our own Christian circles with an alarming regularity. Therefore, we strongly encourage fellow believers to promote and provide healing within the body of Christ. This directory is only a humble means to assist those actively committed to this healing ministry. We suggest that persons who are in a position of likely having to refer others to community mental health services familiarize themselves with the agencies and professionals listed in this manual before the need of making referrals arises. Once that need has come and you are ready to select an agency or professional for referral, we advise that you check that agency's or person's professional credentials (e.g. training, experience, treatment model, professional membership) and their demonstrated commitment to a Christian way of life.
The user needs to be aware that this directory is merely intended to list the various mental health services available. It is up to the user to verify the information provided by the agency or professional.
Shalem Mental Health Network and those associated with the production of this directory do not, either intentionally or unintentionally, whether implied or expressed, represent or warrant any of the services offered by the agencies and individuals listed in this directory, and do not assume responsibility for harmful effects resulting from their services.
We just hope this manual may be a helpful channel towards healing and health. Suggestions for its improvement will be most appreciatively received!
