Mission Statement:

I believe that people naturally moved towards greater wholeness but are sometimes constrained by factors/forces/conditions which are impediments to that movement. These can be social conditions, socialization process, values and beliefs, and unconscious processes. My job is to help people to become more aware of these constraints and to help them make conscious choices about them in order to lift the constraints and to diminish their power to influence and control the direction of their lives. My Chistian belief is that we are created by a loving God for the purpose of love; to learn to grow in love and to love all of creation. To be able to do this takes courage to overcome the constraints ("powers and principalities") which would limit our ability to love. I believe that this courage was demonstrated for us in Jesus Christ who also calls us into our full humanity.

I believe that these dynamics are present in every conflict a person in therapy experiences, whether those conflicts are internal or between people. In the conflicts we have an opportunity to more honestly face ourselves, to overcome our constraints to love, and to learn to become more loving human beings. If people who are conscious Christians, I talk with them openly about these things. If they are not, I talk with them about their values and beliefs and what it is in them that prevents them from being the best that they can be; and where they obtain on-going support, nurturance and guidance in becoming the best that they can be.
