Mission Statement:
Over the past twelve years, I have had the privilege of consulting with hundreds of individuals, couples and families on a wide range of concerns ranging from mild communication issues to severe abuse. My theoretical framework is based in narrative, systems and solution-focussed therapies. While my practice is a general one, areas of specialization include sex addiction, internet misuse, substance abuse, spiritual conflict, depression, communication problems, grief, trauma and stress management. My expertise in these areas has led to many speaking engagements in North America in a variety of academic, clinical and corporate settings. In particular, I have worked with many Christians struggling with sexual compulsions in their personal lives, relationships or ministry settings.
In addition to counselling, I am an adjunct professor at Eastern University (Philadelphia, USA) and Peruvian Union University (Lima, Peru), where I teach Master's and Doctoral level courses in Marriage and Family Therapy.
In my opinion, counselling is an always-evolving partnership. Coming for help is a courageous and often difficult step, so I am committed to making sessions comfortable (but not boring), challenging (but not overwhelming), and meaningful (but with a healthy dose of levity). Regardless of your presenting concerns, my aim is to work creatively and collaboratively with you and your support network to achieve practical, tangible goals. Because I believe that we all have inherent worth as imagers of God, I strive to help people find greater emotional, spiritual and relational wholeness. I look forward to meeting you! |
