Mission Statement:
I view myself as a Christian who has a practice in psychology. My major theoretical orientation is as a cognitive behaviourist. In marriage work, I attempt to help couples plan future directions (recognizing that we are all individuals). I find the ability to engage in an apology/forgiveness exercise to be very useful for both Christian and non-Christian clients. Although we all must somehow come to terms with our past, I will not allow clients, while in my office, to remain anchored to the past, instead of working toward the present and future. I find that many therapists spend so much time and client energy on the past. There is a lot of money to be made in dealing with the past! When marriage-related issues come to my office, I insist on seeing both partners together.

I have had the privilege of teaching in a variety of settings, including Springdale Christian School, grade 8/9 of Timothy Christian School (Toronto), courses at Redeemer College, University of Waterloo and for 2 years at the graduate school (Philippine Formal College, Manila). I have been a life-long member of the Christian Reformed Church and currently serve as an elder in the Owen Sound Christian Reformed Church. I retired from the Grey Country Board of Education (chief psychologist 1971-1995) but my office seems busier than ever lately!
