Mission Statement: We believe that people are made in the image of God. This image involves all aspects of being human including spiritual, emotional, social, physical, volitional, and fantasy life. This image also involves our relatedness to each other and to God. We are individual selves but are also inextricably in relationship with other people as well as with God.

In our world of individual and corporate sin, persons struggle in some or all aspects of their lives. Many people are able to deal with their problems and challenges on their own, sometimes with the assistance and support of their family and friends. They are helped, as well, when they meet with a community leader they trust such as a pastor. However, for whatever reason, some people require outside assistance which their social network is unable to provide. These people sometimes benefit from meeting with a professional person who is trained to help them in their personal journeys. At Christian Counselling Services we meet with these people, some of whom identify with the Christian faith and others who do not.

A counselling service that helps people deal with their personal difficulties is sometimes understood to be offering assistance in the emotional aspect of human life, or sometimes the overall mental life, and hence to be providing “mental health" services. However, as a result of our conviction that the image of God involves all aspects of being human, we believe that our counselling involves the whole person including the self in relation to other people and God. We respect people who ask us for help and set about the sometimes painful but liberating activity of therapy. Our experience is that God blesses that process, and that healing comes.
