As a Christian therapist I know that God desires to enter into the problems and lives of my clients and He alone can heal, He alone can stimulate their souls to change. I have the privilege of forming a therapeutic relationship with my clients and become a "transitional object of grace". I use my theoretical knowledge and approaches to understand and assist clients to "change their thinking and change their problematic behaviour". For unsaved/unbelieving clients I can pray silently for God to enter into their lives and heal their problems. For Christian clients, I ask them to tell me in what way I can be of the most benefit to them and I will do it (ie pray in session, etc.). One thing I do caution them is that there is no magic prayer that fixes everything. Prayer brings God into our lives for change and we then have to be obedient to the truth we understand and do the work of change.
