Mission Statement: This is not a Christian institution. Founded in 1883, The Homewood Health Centre is a private psychiatric hospital with the primary goal of providing the highest quality inpatient care for those suffering from mental disorders and addictions to alcohol and drugs. Patients from a wide geographic area are provided with care for a variety of acute and long-term psychiatric conditions. Psychiatric consultation and emergency admission are provided to patients from the local community. The Homewood Health Centre views personal health as a state of psychological, social, spiritual and physical well-being. Using currently accepted modalities of treatment and in cooperation with relevant agencies, highly qualified, multi-disciplinary teams treat patients and assist families to cope with psychiatric problems. Personal growth and lifestyle enrichment are important components of treatment programs which are carried out in a therapeutic, supportive and physically attractive environment, designed to enhance the dignity and self-respect of all patients.

In pursuit of its primary goal of clinical excellence, The Homewood Health Centre provides its staff and affiliated students with ongiong educational programs and opportunities for professional growth. The Hospital promotes and fosters an attitude of inquiry, research and collaboration amongst its professional staff and the Mental Health Community. The Homewood Health Centre is committed to improving the quality of mental health in the community through participation in organizing and sponsoring educational programs, promoting community awareness, supporting self-help groups, identifying service gaps and assisting in the development of needed services.
